Data Collection Sheets, Made Simple!

Data collection, just another one of those things on your daily to-do list. Collecting data on IEP goals and target behaviors is such an important task. I like to have data sheets that are user-friendly so my classroom paraprofessionals, related service providers, and classroom substitutes can collect data when working with students.

What is a data collection sheet?

A data collection sheet is used by educators to collect data for IEP goals. It makes tracking data easy.

The Easiest Method

This is one of my favorite data sheets that I use daily with some of my students. It has drop down options that make it easy to use. You can even make it in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel and use checkboxes. You just answer either yes or no. Did they do it or did they not? It doesn’t require a lot of notes, which is great because sometimes you don’t have time to sit and write a dissertation when collecting data!

More Detailed Data Sheet

For those who want or need a more detailed data sheet, here is a great option.

Excel Data Sheet

This data collection sheet has the area and standard we are working on, the IEP goal, an antecedent to show how to begin, and the target. For the second goal, on the target line you would write the initials of the student they conversed with.
